about

With You is about choosing the painful process of de-coupling, the self-reflection and re-surfacing issues you are forced to face when removing yourself from a long-term relationship. It’s about taking stock of your life and who you are vs. who you had set out to be, centring yourself in your own priorities and squaring all the little decisions that led you to where you are, in hopes of growing beyond that place. It was written from within a cloud of grief and uncertainty in the months preceding the end of a ten year relationship.

lyrics

I want to take things back now
Enjoy the comfort of the past
Outcomes so certain
Knowing the twists in every path
With you
With you, there’s no telling all the things that we could do different

I want to make some new friends
The kind that ask you where you’ve been
Listen to their stories
Hanging on their every whim with you,
WIth you, there’s no telling all the things that we could do

But things are different now and all this time is pulling us apart
Trying to find a way to get it back and unbreak this heart

I want to see my best friend
To find out what he’s going through
But I know he’s been drinking
It’s radio silence
And sure, I have been too, with you
With you, there’s no taking back the shit I put you through

I wanted to be my best self,
But all I’m finding is this shell I try to fill up with pieces
That fall and clamor to get out
With you, where’d you go?
There’s no getting back to where we never was

‘Cause things are different now and all this space is pulling us apart
Trying to find a way to get it back and unbreak this heart
